We are SC INBRE: Presbyterian College
Meet Reece Bradberry, a junior biology major and public health minor at Presbyterian College, working with Dr. Stuart Gordon, SC INBRE institutional lead at PC.
Reece recently shared 1st Place-Undergraduate in the American Society for Microbiology South Carolina Branch Fall 2024 meeting with Jadynn McMahon and Abby Taylor, SC INBRE-funded students from USC Aiken mentored by Dr. Bill Jackson, SC INBRE institutional lead at USCA. Additionally, she received a travel award to the meeting.
Reece’s research focuses on identifying strains of bacteria that will be good candidates for transposon mutagenesis. “By using this forward genetics technique, we will be able to discover the functions of more genes in bacteria strains,” said Bradberry.
Her future goals are to attend Physician Assistant school. “SC INBRE has helped me greatly with my goals because, without this grant, my research would not have been possible. This research has taught me valuable knowledge and will help set me apart when I apply for graduate schools, so I am extremely grateful for this opportunity!”
Outside the classroom, Reece enjoys working as a pharmacy technician and hanging out with friends.
