"I love SC INBRE because it gave me the first exposure to research funding, allowing me to learn the details of writing a grant proposal, and it provided an opportunity for summer research, where I was able to become much more confident in my ability to execute a research project and present my findings. My name is Allison Swiecki and I am truly so proud to be a part of SC INBRE.”
Allison Swiecki is a biology major at the University of South Carolina Aiken, where she has a concentration in Molecular Biology. After USCA, she would like to pursue an M.D./ Ph.D. dual degree which will further prepare her for a career in biomedical research. Working with SC INBRE and her research mentor, Dr. C. Nathan Hancock, has already had a great impact on Allison's future plans.
"I now realize that I love research and that I couldn't imagine not participating in research for the rest of my life. SC INBRE has provided me the opportunity to learn more about the research programs available to me in my future. I am ecstatic about being a SC INBRE Scholar, and I cannot wait to see how my future continues to be shaped as a result of my relationship with the organization."
